Mellor has begun delivering 33 Strata Plus low-floor buses to replace West Yorkshire's AccessBus fleet, as part of a £6.5m programme run by the West Yorkshire Combined Authority (WYCA). X8 Service from Lancashire to the Lake District Returns

A bus service promising a "convenient and scenic journey through the picturesque landscapes of the Lake District" has made a welcome comeback.

The Stagecoach X8 bus service, which traverses between Lancashire and the Lakes, recommenced operations on Saturday 30th March, and will run until the 20th October 2024.

Each Saturday, the X8 bus departs from Chorley, ferrying passengers through some of the most charming locales in the region, including Windermere, Ambleside, Grasmere and Keswick.

According to a spokesperson for Stagecoach, the revival of the service heralds good tidings for nature enthusiasts and adventurers alike.

"Good news for people who love walking and exploring!" the spokesperson exclaimed.

"You'll be treated to breathtaking vistas and a seamless journey as you traverse these enchanting spots.

"Whether you're an avid hiker seeking challenging trails, a nature aficionado yearning for tranquility, or simply seeking respite from the bustle of city life, the X8 service caters to all," they added.

"From invigorating walks to serene lake cruises, the X8 can transport you there!

"Don't let the opportunity to discover the Lakes in all its splendour pass you by. Hop aboard the X8 service and let the adventure commence."

Transport for London (TfL) has unveiled 'Buses for London', a new publicly owned bus company for the capital, and named route 6 as the first service it will run.  Tom Harrison (Bus Ambassador) The company is due to launch in late 2027, with Park Royal Depot in west London as its first operational base. A further four routes will be announced over the coming year and are due to transfer from 2028. TfL says the company will let it test new approaches to reliability, safety, decarbonisation, customer experience and driver welfare.
