Wallasey Coastal Breezer Open Top Bus Returns for Summer

A big step for sustainable mobility in Spain: Valencia’s municipal transport company EMT has ordered 84 new city buses from MAN Truck & Bus, including 57 fully electric Lion’s City 12 E models and 27 Lion’s City 18 buses equipped with MAN’s EfficientHybrid technology. This marks MAN’s largest eBus order in Spain to date.

The contract, worth around €50 million and covering vehicle delivery and maintenance, was awarded for two of four lots in EMT’s recent vehicle tender.
Robert Katzer, Head of Sales & Product Bus at MAN Truck & Bus, said:
“It is a great success. Our battery-electric buses are already on the road in Valencia, as in many other Spanish cities. The fact that the MAN eBus fleet is being further expanded clearly shows how satisfied drivers, operators and passengers are with our vehicles.”

Valencia is pushing hard on its sustainable transport transformation. This order forms part of a wider, large-scale investment programme aiming to modernise the city’s bus fleet and cut local emissions.
Katzer added:
“The aim is to make public transport in the metropolis as sustainable as possible. This is also possible thanks to our city buses, which stand for efficiency, reliability and environmental friendliness. EMT’s decision shows their confidence in our products and our technological expertise. We are delighted to be working with Valencia to make an important contribution to the transport revolution in one of Spain’s largest cities.”
Valencia’s tender totals 161 buses as part of a comprehensive investment plan valued at roughly €170 million. The city plans to introduce 218 new electric and hybrid buses by 2028, significantly reducing the average fleet age and cutting diesel buses to below 7 percent by 2027.

The new MAN vehicles — the 12-metre Lion’s City E and the 18-metre Lion’s City EfficientHybrid for higher capacity routes — will be delivered and introduced in phases starting late 2026.
MAN’s zero-emission strategy is clear and ongoing. The Lion’s City E family has been successfully operating for six years, with over 2,500 vehicles across Europe covering more than 100 million kilometres.
In the first quarter of 2025 alone, MAN sold 283 eBuses — over half of its total city bus sales in Europe.
